Tom Felton will once again don the platinum blonde wig of Draco Malfoy for the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks the first instance of an actor from the original “Harry Potter” film series joining the stage spin-off. Felton, who portrayed the rival to Harry Potter from 2001 to 2011 across eight films, will assume the role of an adult Draco, who, alongside Harry, Ron, and Hermione, is now sending his own children to Hogwarts.

Felton, 37, expressed the surreal nature of returning to the character. He told TODAY that it feels like a “pinch-me situation” and a “full-circle moment” to rejoin the wizarding world. His engagement is set for 19 weeks, running from November 11, 2025, to March 22, 2026, at the Lyric Theatre in New York City.

The Legacy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” has achieved significant success since its premiere in London’s West End in 2016, later transferring to Broadway in 2018. It holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, having sold over 10 million tickets worldwide. The play currently has productions running in London, New York, Hamburg, and Tokyo.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, in a joint statement, highlighted the cultural significance of Felton’s return, noting it is “charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion.” They anticipate that Felton will bring the “same depth, gravity, and humanity he has always brought to Draco” on stage. The play’s narrative picks up 19 years after the events of the final “Harry Potter” book, exploring new stories within the established wizarding universe.
